Epoxy floor paint mixing instructions

It may sound simple to an experienced applicator of epoxy products but a general factory operative may be unsure of the process of mixing an epoxy paint. A two part epoxy paint relies on the correct quantities of epoxy resin (typically labelled part A) and curing agent (typically labelled part B) being mixed. Any significant deviation in the ratios could result in an unusuable floor.

Tremco illbruck has actually had calls in the past where a customer has applied the epoxy resin part A and wanted to know when the curing agent part B should be applied. Needless to say, the result was a complete mess resulting in the part A being scraped up off the floor and being disposed of.

There are three pieces of advice to take to avoid problems.

1) Always carefully read the instructions on the tin or the product data sheet.

2) Never split packs (ie decant a small quantity) unless 100% confident in the precise mixing ratio.

3) Always use a drill and paddle to ensure complete mixing of the two components.
