Epoxy Levelling Screed in Warehouse Premises

The plain powerfloated concrete was a potential source of dust for the client, plus with frequent external visitors the floor looked very drab. The client decided that they would invest in a floor which would last at least ten years rather than a floor coating which would only last two to three years and so the Tremco CS350 Self Smoothing Epoxy Screed system was specified. The first stage of the process was to shotblast the concrete to provide an open texture to permit complete adhesion of the system.

Once vacuumed clean, the concrete was then primed using Tremco CS125 Penetrating Epoxy Primer to help adhere the Tremco CS350 Self Smoothing Epoxy Screed to the substrate. The secondary reason to prime with epoxy primer is to minimise the risk of "pinholes". These could potentially form if the suction of the substrate was too great, hence the use of the primer to provide a glassy non-porous surface.

After overnight cure, the Tremco CS350 Self Smoothing Epoxy Screed was applied. The system consists of three components; resin, hardener and aggregate. The three components were mixed together and then poured out onto the primed floor. This material was spread out using a smooth edged trowel down to the typical 2-3mm thickness.

This system was allowed to cure overnight for foot traffic and two days for full vehicle traffic. Tremco CS350 Self Smoothing Epoxy Screed is available in a wide range of colours and provides extremely good chemical resistance. The data sheet is available by clicking the link above.
